Workers’ livelihoods are in jeopardy at Best Market/Lidl stores across Long Island. In November of 2018, Lidl, a multinational supermarket chain, acquired all Best Markets and promised over 2,500 workers they would all keep their jobs despite plans to eliminate the deli, seafood and meat departments.

At the hearing, workers and community advocates will provide testimony on the following:

  • Unstable hours and scheduling
  • Health and safety on the job
  • Low-wages and unaffordable medical benefits
  • Gender inequities
  • Impacts of low-wage jobs on workers
  • Questions concerning the future of jobs at Best Market/Lidl

If you would like to give testimony, please contact Anita at: ahalasz.lijwj@gmail.com or (718) 216-1085

A board of community, faith, labor and political leaders will issue a report with recommendations to support the efforts of workers to secure and improve conditions at Best Market/Lidl
