LIJWJ stands steadfast alongside unions and other worker organizations to help consolidate and expand the recent gains of the workers movement. Working with a mostly part-time 4 person staff, LIJWJ is one of many scrappy underdogs putting everything we have into the workers movement.
Labor struggles are metaphorical marathon runs with occasional unexpected sprints along the route as emergencies arise. This can be an exhausting process for workers and organizers working with only a small fraction of the resources available to the bosses who oppose us.
Standing on their own, workers have to run all these exhausting marathons themselves while their bosses don’t even break a sweat because they’re riding in golf carts. What evens the odds is forming a relay of workers, organizers, and community to pick up each other when we tire, conserving and redirecting energy to keep up the pace and win.
